El edificio Chrysler es un edificio que se ha convertido en un símbolo distintivo de la ciudad de Nueva York, que mide 319 metros y está situado en el lado este de Manhattan en la intersección de la calle 42 y la Avenida Lexington. Construido originalmente por la corporación Chrysler, el edificio es actualmente copropiedad de TMW Real Estate (75%) y Tishman Speyer Properties (25%). El edificio Chrysler fue diseñado por William van Alen, el contratista William H. Reynolds y posteriormente vendido a Walter P. Chrysler como sede central para su compañía.
Van Alen, previamente, había conseguido permiso en secreto para construir una aguja, que fue construida dentro del edificio. La aguja de acero inoxidable Nirosta fue colocada en la cima del edificio una tarde de noviembre de 1929 haciendo del edifico Chrysler no sólo el edificio más alto del mundo, sino también la estructura más alta, superando a la Torre Eiffel. El edificio abrió sus puertas al público, el 27 de mayo de 1930. Van Alen y Chrysler disfrutaron de esta distinción durante menos de un año, hasta que le fuera entregada al Empire State Building. Desafortunadamente la satisfacción de Van Alen quedó empañada por la negativa de Walter Chrysler a pagarle sus honorarios. El edificio fue renovado en 1978 y 1979, durante los cuales el vestíbulo fue revestido de granito, mármol y acero. La aguja sufrió una restauración que fue completada en 1995. El edificio fue comprado por Alex DiLorenzo. DiLorenzo lo vendió a una empresa de seguros de vida de Massachussets, y posteriormente fue vendido a Jack Kent Cooke, un inversionista canadiense-estadounidense. El edificio, en este momento, es co-poseído por TMW Real Estate, con el 75% de la propiedad, y Tishman Speyer Properties, con el restante 25%

The Empire State Building is a 102-story Art Deco skyscraper in New York City at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street. Its name is derived from the nickname for the state of New York. It stood as the world's tallest building for more than forty years, from its completion in 1931 until construction of the World Trade Center's North Tower was completed in 1972. Following the destruction of the World Trade Center in 2001, the Empire State Building again became the tallest building in New York City and New York State. The Empire State Building has been named by the American Society of Civil Engineers as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. The building and its street floor interior are designated landmarks of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, and confirmed by the New York City Board of Estimate. It was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1986. In 2007, it was ranked number one on the List of America's Favorite Architecture according to the AIA. The building is owned and managed by W&H Properties.
